Crannog's Successful Fundraiser for Cancer Support
The Scottish Crannog Centre reports that it’s evening of Iron Age inspiration and fine food in mid June raised just over £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
More than 35 revellers (pictured below by Nick Dixon) appreciated the authentic ‘Taste of the Past’ menu designed by the Crannog Crew and cooked by Stephen Dow of Aberfeldy. Specialty breads and cakes were also provided by the Crannog Celts themselves. Many of the guests had no idea that our ancestors could have eaten so well!
Throughout the evening, lively Scottish music was provided by Davy Ewen and Leslie Waddell from Perthshire band, the Gallivanters. |

The Crannog Crew hopes that all who attended thoroughly enjoyed the evening, and it is especially grateful to all the individuals and businesses who supported the event with raffle prizes, invitations, services, and organisational help. These include: Cairn O’Mhor Wine; Danscot; Dewar’s World of Whisky; Diana and Duncan Menzies; Dougie MacLean; Eileen Brodie; EMB Graphics; Forestry Commission Scotland; Homer; House of Menzies; Libby and Gordon Leighton; Perth Concert Hall; Splash; Sue and Bill Hoare; The Courtyard; The Watermill; and Zest; all who made generous cash donations; with particular thanks to Patty Hope for her guidance and assistance.
Formal presentation of the cheque will be made to Trish Orr, Chairwoman of Macmillan’s Aberfeldy, Strathtay and District Committee, and to Sylvia Jeffrey, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support at a ceremony at the Crannog Centre in early July.
