Academy Pupils Head Off to China
On the 14 July, a group of 8 senior pupils and 2 staff will fly to Kunming in South-West China for a two week Mandarin Chinese Immersion Course.
This will involve intensive Mandarin Chinese language lessons in the mornings and then the afternoons are to be taken up with a mixture of cultural classes which can include calligraphy, Chinese cooking, and Tai Chi amongst other activities.
“Visits are also organised to local places of interest, Breadalbane’s Doreen Redfern told Comment. “The pupils are paired with Chinese students during the course, and the Chinese student helpers escort the groups throughout the two week stay.”

One of the highlights of the course is the homestay visit, where the pupils visit their Chinese partner families at home and spend the day with them. This has been organised through the British Council Scotland to increase and support closer links between China and Scotland.
“During our visit we intend to put regular updates on the Breadalbane Academy school website www.breadalbane.pkc.sch.uk” added Doreen.
