'Breathe' Benefits from Free Spirits

To raise much-needed funds towards the running costs of the monthly ‘Breathe’ event at Aberfeldy Church of Scotland, local business ‘Free Spirits’ recently provided a day of white water rafting.
‘Breathe’ is a centre-based youth event with live music and big attractions such as Bucking Bronco/Sumo Wrestling/Giant Inflatable etc. It is open monthly for young people from S1 upwards.
Its aims are: Developing Young Leaders; Diverting/Preventing young people involved in, or at risk of, anti-social behaviour; Connecting young people with church; Providing a safe place to go.

Over the past year the average attendance has been 35 at each event with 71 having accessed the service. There are 6 volunteers aged 16 – 17 who are involved in the running and decision making process.
Steve Thomas who runs Freespirits said “It is great to see something positive happening in the area that involves young people helping young people. We were extremely happy to support this worthwhile event.”
Franny McGrath, who oversees ‘Breathe’, told Comment: “It is fantastic to see a local business coming forward without prompting to support the local community. Not only did we raise over £300 but the young people had a great time with Steve’s staff (pictured above), who put a lot of energy and enthusiasm into the day.”
