Politician Tuned Into Local Youths

On Monday 20 August MSP John Swinney met with youngsters in Aberfeldy, who had invited him to visit the Highland Perthshire Youth Initiative based at The Hub in Bank Street.

The recently-opened centre provides a chance for those youngsters in Highland Perthshire to take part in various projects and be involved in community activities. The MSP spoke to them about his work as a parliamentarian and listened to their views and ideas on community learning initiatives.

Speaking of the visit the MSP said: “I was very pleased to be asked to come along to The Hub in Aberfeldy to meet with the youngsters and hear their views on youth initiatives in the area. My young constituents are always very well-informed and pro-active in their approach to community projects and this time was no different.

Informative
“In Aberfeldy those involved in the setting up and running of The Hub have worked tirelessly and this effort has been well worthwhile. The enthusiasm of the youngsters and volunteers is evident and is an example for others to follow.

“I very much enjoyed hearing what those involved in the project feel needs to be looked at in terms of providing the best opportunities for community initiatives to expand and flourish. I found their opinions valuable and informative and I certainly will take their views into account when discussing these types of voluntary ventures.

“I have no doubt that the project will have continued success in providing opportunities for youngsters in Aberfeldy and indeed further afield.”
