Riding for The Disabled/Hospital Cars

These two local Charities combined to run the Thrift Shop in July and raised £1200, to be shared equally between them. The response was much appreciated.

Sharing produced some new and enthusiastic shop-keepers, fantastic raffle prizes, lots of lovely ‘stuff’, good humour and a good feeling of a job well done. Thank you to everyone, especially Sheila Menzies who kept the show on the road by opening the shop, counting the money and keeping us all in line!

Kusha Bolt has kept us up to speed with impressive lists and we know all the raffle prizes found their new owners because David Jones became the delivery boy. Both these two Charities would not be able to function without the support of the Community and those people who give so much of their valuable time.

Both Riding for the Disabled and the Hospital Cars are always pleased to be approached by prospective volunteers.

Hospital Driving means that a volunteer would be asked to take a client to a Hospital appointment, and this may only involve a trip every month or so. This is not an enormous commitment to a service which is vital to enable patients who have no other means of transport to access the NHS Hospitals in Tayside.

Riding for the Disabled is a great way to spend an hour or two out in the fresh air with ponies and riders who need that little bit of extra support. Those who might have thought about it but have given it a miss might like to be reassured that ponies do not all have big teeth and even bigger feet, and that working as a team to help other people is in fact very rewarding.
