Victoria Park Open Day
It’s really exciting for The Friends of Aberfeldy Parklands group to see the project becoming a reality & hope it will be considered a fantastic, well used facility everyone can be proud of for years to come, writes Fiona Fraser.
Work on the play park should be completed by the end of June in time for all our kids (& the tourists!) to enjoy it over the summer.
A couple of people have pointed out a few concerns regarding vandalism. It would really be a shame if the new equipment was damaged before the work was completed so I would like to ask everyone to be extra vigilant, |

especially if you live near the park or pass it everyday on a walk and can see what’s happening. Please also remember the park is still a building site and for your own safety please do not enter the play area. If anybody sees vandalism occurring please report it to the police and/or call the PKC helpline on 01738 476 476.
To celebrate our newly refurbished park, we’re hosting an official re-opening event on Saturday 18 August, 2 – 5pm. It’s free to come along and there will be lots of fun, free-to-try activities and workshops for all ages.
The opening event is also joining forces with the “Gig in the Vic” put on by our young people which will start at about 4pm and continue into the evening. All in all it should be a great day – here’s hoping we get the weather!
We’re also looking to encourage as many local community groups as possible to participate too. Perhaps you’d like to promote membership of your group or raise some much needed funds? If you’d like to join in please email fiona-fraser@supanet.com or call 01887 829033. There’s no charge for having a stall – we’d just like to see you there!
Marshalling Help Sought
Also, as we’re quite a small group, if anybody would be available to help out as a marshal on the day, please get in touch! I’m afraid there’s no pay, but you’ll get a snazzy T-shirt as a souvenir of the day!
Finally I’d just like to thank everyone who has supported the project over the last 2 years. Without local support it would have been impossible to get off the ground & we’re really grateful to you all & look forward to seeing everyone at Victoria Park on 18 August!
