Logierait Bridge Co Appeal

This former railway bridge is unique in that it is owned directly by the community. After a major fund raising effort led by local volunteer members of the Company’s Executive Committee, a £400,000 refurbishment of the bridge and its approach roads was completed during 2000/2001.

Continuing maintenance and provision for future essential work on the bridge is financed entirely through members’ modest annual subscriptions and donations. It will not be many years before substantial expenditure will have to be faced to fund the replacement of the running surface on the bridge and other capital works would seem likely to require attention in the foreseeable future.

Heritage

Logierait Bridge is part of our heritage; a structure of historic interest and in today’s world, an important local community asset that provides a valuable cost saving facility for all individual and commercial users.

To address the future both positively and with fairness, the Company’s Executive Committee seeks firstly, to urge those bridge users who are not yet supporting members of Logierait Bridge Company to respond positively to this appeal and secondly, to invite others interested to assist in the preservation of a historical community asset to do likewise.

Those willing to “come on board”, in the first instance, are asked to contact Logierait Bridge Company’s Hon. Secretary - Norman McCandlish, Knockintober, Ballinluig, PH9 0LN - email - norman.mccandlish@virgin.net
