New Support for Volunteer Drivers
To support volunteer drivers, the Perth & Kinross Community Transport Group (PKCTG) has set up a Community Car Association (CCA) in a joint venture with P&K Council.
The new Association will provide support, advice and information for drivers with the added benefit of access to reduced insurance premiums. Membership is open to groups and individual drivers with free public (and, where necessary, employers’) liability insurance for one year.
P&K Council will finance this venture and hope to encourage drivers to come together to share ideas and develop best practice procedures. |

Angela Prescott, Rural Development Worker of the Community Transport Group, describes this innovative scheme as a wonderful opportunity for all volunteer drivers in Perth and Kinross to become part of a new group dealing with operational issues and policy development. Volunteer drivers provide an invaluable service supporting surgeries and Day Centres as well as providing transport to local and regional hospitals.
