Flowers Flattering 'Feldy

The ambitious plan to introduce some flowers to Aberfeldy got off to a good start with 60 hanging baskets delivered on Friday 15 June with a further 30 to arrive the following week.
Chairman William Leszke said “This is a great boost for the town and I am sure it will cheer everyone up as they go about their shopping etc. We owe a lot to the business people of the town for making all this possible. We are hoping that people both young and old will respect the efforts of our small group”.
Group secretary Isobel McBride added “This splash of colour is just a start and we hope to expand it in years to come. Our Flower Power competitions are also attracting a great number of entries and we notice a lot of people around the town taking more pride of their gardens”.

'Move 2 Improve is already working out plans and looking at other areas for 2008,” said William “We have to keep the momentum going and make sure Aberfeldy is not left out of the tourist trail.
“By creating a colourful town we will attract more visitors in future years. Every shopowner should be right behind our plans as it is their livelihood that depends on the tourist season. It is like the never-ending story, and we must keep going even although we might get some setbacks”.

Donations
The group benefited from donations of hanging basket trees from Aberfeldy & District Rotary Club and Aberfeldy and District Inner Wheel. A great number of individuals have sent donations to the group and stickers can be bought to support the group.
“Now it is Aberfeldy’s turn to get some praise and hopefully, in the not too distant future, some of the empty premises will be filled making the town a vibrant community once more,” concluded William. “But we would welcome more involvement from the young people of the town and input from organisations like The Hub in Bank Street”.
Move 2 Improve is a voluntary group working closely with Take a Pride in Perthshire and Perth Community Council.
