The Highland Perthshire Shopmobility (HPS) project was recently relaunched in Pitlochry. Founded in 2001 by the late John Smith, the project has a wide variety of mobility items available for use by those in need, local or visitors. In future it will operate from the Atholl Leisure Centre in West Moulin Road.
Chairman of HPS Ann Gibson-Urquhart thanked all the sponsors over the years, including Servite Homes for the use of rooms at Aldour; Davidsons Chemist for giving over its lock-up garage for scooter and equipment storage; Janet Washington for supplying the electricity; and Lloyds TSB for a grant towards the refurbishment of the garage. The Rotary Club of Pitlochry has provided some of the scooters and other equipment.
Perth and Kinross Council’s Leisure staff from Atholl Leisure Centre will be looking after the day-to-day running of the project and can be contacted on 01796 473866 for bookings.
HPS, along with the Atholl Curling Rink, will also be a major beneficiary of the forthcoming Blair Castle charity day to be held on 7 July, where there will be varied programme of fundraising activities taking place.
